Svenska Spel Appoints New CEO to Spearhead Growth and Innovation

Anna Johnson, an experienced executive with a robust history in finance, is ready to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer at Svenska Spel, a leading Swedish gaming corporation. Her placement, commencing in June 2024, signifies a calculated decision by the company to utilize her knowledge to propel expansion and creativity.

Johnson’s notable achievements include a prosperous period as Partner and CEO of Grant Thornton Sweden, where she held numerous management roles since 1998. Her comprehensive grasp of financial sectors and demonstrated aptitude for constructing high-achieving groups make her a perfect fit to guide Svenska Spel into a fresh chapter.

The company’s Chairman, Erik Strand, conveyed his faith in Johnson’s direction, emphasizing her collaborative style, customer-focused perspective, and history of generating profitable expansion. He trusts that her dynamism and inquisitive character will be indispensable as Svenska Spel continues to adapt and offer a responsible and enjoyable gaming experience for its patrons.

Johnson, conveying her eagerness for the new position, acknowledges the distinct standing and obligation of Svenska Spel as a pillar of Swedish leisure. She envisions a time when the company persists in delivering excitement and pleasure to the Swedish populace while making positive contributions to society.

Temporarily, following the exit of present CEO Patrik Hofbauer to Telia Company in February 2024, Erik Strand will take on the position of interim CEO, guaranteeing a seamless handover.

This leadership shift arrives at a critical juncture for Svenska Spel, especially after its current collaboration with Kambi Group, an action intended to solidify its presence within the competitive gaming arena.

A major Swedish gaming company, Svenska Spel, is preparing to launch a new sports wagering system in late 2024. This initiative will allow them to provide both digital and physical betting choices to their clientele. The technology underpinning this new system is Shape Games, a branch of the established gaming tech supplier, Kambi.

In their pursuit to become a leading entity in the Swedish gaming landscape, Svenska Spel is not limiting themselves to just sports wagering. They have been actively establishing alliances to expand their offerings. This includes collaborations with Wagr, recognized for their social betting application, and the Betsson Group, a significant presence in the European gaming market. Moreover, they have joined forces with industry titans Playtech and IGT to enhance their current poker offerings and incorporate state-of-the-art lottery technology.
