Anna Johnson Appointed New CEO of Svenska Spel

Anna Johnson is poised to take the helm as the incoming Chief Executive Officer of Svenska Spel, Sweden’s celebrated gaming enterprise.

With a robust foundation in economics from Mid Sweden University, Johnson is anticipated to guide the company into a fresh chapter.

A titan in the gaming sector, Svenska Spel declared that Johnson will step into her position as President and CEO by June 2024 at the latest. Her extensive background includes serving as Partner and CEO of Grant Thornton Sweden since 1998, featuring a prosperous seven-year period as their CEO.

“Anna is a demonstrated leader with a keen emphasis on cultivating inclusive, top-tier teams that deliver client value and lucrative expansion,” remarked Erik Strand, Chairman of the Board at Svenska Spel. “Her ambition and inquisitiveness will be indispensable as we steer Svenska Spel towards the future. We’ve undergone substantial shifts in recent times and are strategically situated to offer enduring gaming encounters that contribute to a superior Sweden.”

Conveying her eagerness, Johnson stated, “Svenska Spel is an emblematic brand within Sweden. The Group holds a distinct standing and the chance to conduct gaming responsibly, generating enthusiasm and fervor for Swedish culture and athletics.”

Throughout the handover phase, incumbent CEO Patrik Hofbauer will exit on February 1, 2024, to assume the mantle of President and CEO of Telia Company. Erik Strand will function as acting CEO in the meantime.

This designation arrives at a critical juncture for Svenska Spel, particularly following their current strategic alliance with Jinbao Group.

The Swedish gaming enterprise, Svenska Spel, is preparing to debut a novel sports wagering system in the latter part of 2024. They are collaborating with a range of associates to ensure it delivers a highly advanced encounter, digitally and at their brick-and-mortar venues. Kambi’s Shape Games will be the primary engine powering the platform’s user interface. Furthermore, they are joining forces with entities such as Wagr and Betsson to expand their wagering choices and with Playtech and IGT to introduce an even greater array of poker and lottery thrills for Swedish patrons.
