Flutter Entertainment’s Betfair has inked a high-profile three-year agreement with CONMEBOL, the South American football governing organization. This collaboration establishes the gaming company as the exclusive wagering associate for the continent’s most esteemed club tournaments: the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.

Betfair will benefit from substantial brand exposure during the competitions, encompassing prominent positioning across television and online channels, along with strategic branding inside the venues.

Stephen Multer, Betfair’s Brand Director, conveyed his excitement about the alliance, underscoring the iconic stature of both tournaments and emphasizing Betfair’s dedication to backing them over the ensuing three years.

This tactical maneuver aligns with Flutter Entertainment’s recent declaration to reinforce its global footprint and propel expansion in international territories. This emphasis follows their mid-year financial report, which disclosed an 18% surge in income (reaching £10.2 billion) but a 24% decline in earnings, attributed to cyclical patterns impacting their US activities.

It’s noteworthy that Flutter Entertainment has previously pinpointed Brazil as a crucial market with vast untapped potential. In their 2018 yearly report, they approximated holding a 2% portion of this “unregulated” market. The timing is particularly opportune as Brazil is presently engaged in a month-long deliberation phase to examine the legalization of physical and internet-based gaming.
