This location is a haven for horse racing enthusiasts. They boast 500 of those fascinating historical racing terminals, alongside wagering options for all the races and sporting events. And for those seeking Derby memorabilia, a dedicated shop awaits.
This marks Churchill Downs’ sixth Kentucky location featuring these historical racing machines, and here’s the kicker – they’ve installed a massive, attention-grabbing 3D video display outside, the first in the commonwealth!
Churchill Downs CEO, Bill Carstanjen, expresses great enthusiasm about the project. He believes it’s mutually beneficial – fantastic for Kentucky horse racing and a boon for downtown Louisville.
They anticipate a diverse crowd – residents, bourbon aficionados, convention attendees, travelers – everyone! It’s precisely the type of entertainment destination the city needed.
And the cherry on top? This new venture generated over 150 permanent positions for the local populace. Even Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear weighed in, stating that horse racing is deeply ingrained in Kentucky’s heritage and that Churchill Downs unites individuals from far and wide.
The Bluegrass State commemorated the debut of its newest sports wagering establishment, observing the event with a substantial $40,000 contribution divided between the Norton Healthcare Foundation and Hope Bus.
Although Kentuckians could commence placing wagers in person on September 7th, 2023, the ease of mobile betting won’t be available until September 28th.
This venture isn’t Churchill Downs’ initial foray into the realm of sports betting. They’ve previously collaborated with Rosie’s Gaming Emporium to launch a comparable location in Virginia.
