Twitter UK Head Joins Sazka Group’s National Lottery Bid

The head of Twitter in the United Kingdom, Dara Nasr, has joined the Sazka Group’s bid for the National Lottery. The Sazka Group’s UK branch, Allwyn, has added Nasr to its advisory board. The company said Nasr has become a leader in digital communications during his time working for some of the world’s largest tech firms, including Twitter and Google. Nasr said that the way companies communicate with their customers is changing due to the rise of social media platforms. He added that he is working with Allwyn and its parent company, the Sazka Group, because they understand the importance of digital to the lottery. Sir Keith Mills, Chairman of Allwyn’s UK bid, said that the Sazka Group has been driving the digitalization of lotteries in Europe for many years.

Olwyns affiliated enterprise showcases the strength of digital tools in the lottery sector, Mills concluded. He expressed his excitement to collaborate with Dara and utilize his knowledge in digital and social media.

Last fall, Sazka was the first organization to declare its involvement in the competition for the fourth National Lottery permit.

In November, the company confirmed the selection of Sir Keith Mills as the head of the bid. Mills is a successful businessperson who played a crucial role in London’s bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Since then, the company has recruited tech entrepreneur and Lastminute.com founder Brent Hoberman to its advisory group, as well as former Universal Entertainment CEO Charles Garland.

Besides Sugar and Damani, and Camelot, who also joined the bidding in October, earlier this month, Italian lottery operator Sisal declared its intention to participate in the bid.

This has not only led to impressive online sales growth, enabling their lotteries to withstand the difficulties of the pandemic, but has also translated into consistent robust sales growth in the retail sector.
