Sergey “LMBT” Bezanov, one of the 37 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) professional mentors who were prohibited from participating due to the recent deception controversy, has had his punishment revoked by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC).

The mentors who were prohibited were suspected of using a so-called “viewer glitch” in CS:GO that enabled them to move freely around the game maps during competitions and provide information about adversary positions to their squads.

“LMBT,” who was the mentor of the professional CS:GO team Forze, was initially facing a 7.5-month prohibition.

However, after challenging the ruling and supporting his appeal with documents, videos, and third-party proof, the ESIC commissioners were convinced that in the two instances he was suspected of using the glitch, he was not at his computer. In the other two cases, he disconnected quickly and sought administrator assistance, therefore not seeking or gaining any unfair advantage by exploiting the glitch.

As a consequence, the ESIC immediately revoked the prohibition, and “LMBT” is now free to mentor teams participating in ESIC member events again.

The ESIC began examining this matter in September, and they’ve suspended a number of coaches from professional play. These coaches are prohibited from communicating with their teams for 15 minutes before a match begins or during the match. Some coaches are facing suspensions lasting four months, while others are facing three-year bans.

These coaches are also not allowed to be present with their teams or on the game server during matches. They are barred from using the official competition channels on Discord and are prohibited from assisting in map selection or communicating with their teams during this process.

The ESIC anticipates concluding their investigation by the end of October. They will then release a report outlining all the details.
