The Mississippi Gaming Commission stated that sports betting income in January rose by 119.1% year-over-year to $4.6 million, with the state’s betting sum also rising by 38.6%.

Mississippi sports betting income surged in February
Income for the month was $4.6 million (£3.3 million/€3.9 million), up from $2.1 million in the same period last year, but down 49.5% from January’s $9.1 million.

In February, bettors wagered a total of $47.8 million on sporting events, up from $37.6 million in the same month in 2020, but down 29.4% from January’s betting amount.

Coastal casinos were once again the top choice for consumers, with these facilities generating $2.7 million in income in February, with bettors spending $34.7 million at their retail sports betting shops.

Basketball was the most popular sport for consumers at coastal casinos, with $21.5 million spent and $1.3 million in casino income. Football also proved popular, partly due to the NFL Super Bowl in early February, generating $251,941 in income and $6 million in betting.
